Gather Installation Tools:
First of all, you need to gather all the necessary tools, by which installation goal would be accomplished. Include a blanket, a pair of slip-joint pliers, an adjustable wrench, Teflon tape, and a brand-new shower head.
Do Not Forget To Turn Off The Shower:
Before installation, the showerhead, make sure the shower is completely turned off. By this, water will not leak out during installation. Keep in mind; do not shut off the water supply.
Lay down A Blanket:
It is essential to lay down a blanket over the drain while installing a showerhead. It will protect the shower floor surface from falling tools. Moreover, the blanket ensures that anything falls; it would not fall in the drain.
Remove The Existing Showerhead:
You need to wrap a cloth around the base of the existing shower arm. Open up the channel locks and grip them, hold shower arm, and then screw off the showerhead. Wrap the cloth around your existing showerhead, use an adjustable wrench, and turn the showerhead counted clockwise to unscrew the showerhead from the shower arm. Some showerheads can be remover, turning them counterclockwise with hands. So, it is advisable, try to remove it with hands. In case you cannot loosen it with hands, then use wrench and cloth.
Clean The Threads And Tape It:
After removing the existing showerhead, use a clean rag to clean the screw threads of the shower arm. Moreover, you can also use the toothbrush and clean grime and rust. After cleaning threads, remove old Teflon from the threads of the shower arm and wrap the new Teflon tape in a clockwise. So, when you install new showerhead, the tape does not come undone. To make sure, press the taping into the grooves of the threads.
Fit A New Showerhead On Shower Arm:
Now, attach the new showerhead on to the shower arm, and by hands twist it clockwise. By this showerhead will be secure. After securing a new showerhead, you need to use the pliers, cloths, and adjustable wrench to tauten the showerhead. Afterward, wrap the base of the showerhead and shower arm with a towel. For cloth grip, you need to use pliers and hold the shower are base. The adjustable wrench clamp onto the cloth, and clockwise turn the showerhead as much as it needed.
This installation procedure can be applied on any fixed mount showerheads and handheld showerheads. The only difference is, the diverter attached between the handheld showerhead and the shower arm.
Turn on the Water:
The installation is done, now you can turn on the water supply, turn on the showerhead, and check the water leaks properly. If you find any leakage, by turn on the showerhead, the shut off the water, and apply Teflon tape again. After reinstallation, carefully tightening it little more.
